An recent example I have used the green screen for was within a Year 7 lesson where students had to decide whether or not a visitors centre should be built on Mitcham common. I told the class that at the end of the lesson we would be going to a visitors centre to present the findings (which they got excited about). At the end of the lesson students presented their findings against the green wall and this was used as a starter the previous week to link previous learning into the lesson.
The green screen has great potential to excite, inspire, engage and motivate students to focus on their learning and raise the level of achievement. It provides an opportunity for experiential learning which lets students imagine they are in a particular situation or place in an enjoyable way. I now have a few students who come an edit these videos for me afterschool which saves me time and also helps with their IT experience.
Step One: Record the footage on the Pocket Cam with the green screen in the background.
